"Former General Electric CEO Jack Welch's legendary leadership was masterful and dramatic"
"Leadership is the critical piece not the mythical leader - Jack Welch [GE] or Herb Keller [Southwest Airlines]. Those are fewer and farther between these days. This is about walking the talk, being honest and above-board, being human. And on the flipside, having those business results." Mallary Tytel, president of Healthy Workplaces.
excerpted from Best in the business (Trend #1: Confidence in leadership) by Beth Miller - The News Journal (Sunday News Journal, July 29, 2007 - page BB6)
personal note from Allan Smithee (editor of Automotive Acne):
What a crock of shit. I know for a fact Jack Welch is just a cheap S.O.B. I watered and maintained his house plants twice a week for 2-3 years (Manhattan residence - Waldorf Astoria) and never once did he or his wife give the housekeeper a X-mas bonus or tip.
belated news: winning dish for the Second Annual PA Preferred Best Chef of Pennsylvania and it Countryside Regional was (1st plate) pan-seared swordfish served on a bed of argula with a pickled poblano/onion dressing. Entree: pan-seared duck breast with a raspberry/anchovy sauce topped with a fried egg yolk and smashed red skin potatoes with truffle oil. Fried sage leaves were the garnish.
Congrats to Blake Joffe, Head Chef of Bar Ferdinand who received $500 and will now compete in the State Championship early next year. (info via Weekly Press, Aug. 1, 2007)
