yesterday while waiting for a cup of coffee at ING, saw a company advert for a money management seminar to be held at the cafe (free coffee) and the need to rsvp re: attendance. since I was there already, used one of their computers and answered 2 or 3 survey questions. They then let me know I was signed up for "families in disaster." will attend but will now *not* open an account with them. Wonder who was the corporate idiot that thought that one up.

saw a good show this past weekend. at first, thought you had to have the assistants turn the book pages but when walking back to the main floor noticed what I had originally mistaken (cursory glance) for a sculpture was a bowl full of surgical gloves on a pedestal. Next time, will look at the books.

Hey I know you!

recognized a female barkeep (Bonner's Irish Pub) who was walking down the street this a.m. talking on her cell phone. Was listening to the cd walkman so probably spoke louder than usual (headphones hidden by knit cap). She seemed sorta startled, yet non-plussed, rolled her eyes, gave a half-hearted wave and kept walking while talking on the phone. don't know whether she was also chewing gum.

the last time I recognized/startled someone on the street was about a year ago. (was one of the guys in the band the clockcleaners.) happened in Chinatown. told myself, don't ever do that again... people think its kinda weird.

Yesterday, while on location, Allan Smithee was asked "Why are you living in Philadelphia?"

"Had been in Denver for about 10 days maybe two weeks. A large convention, pharmaceutical companies, came to town taking all the hotel rooms, literally. Didn't have a place to stay. So I took the shuttle bus to the airport not knowing where on the East Coast I would end up. On the ride to the airport there were a couple of attorneys sitting in the seat in front of me. They were talking about Philly. Had no destination so I thought "why not?" Bought a ticket, took the next flight, and here I am."
