"The Green Box" is a limited edition of notes on scraps of paper that details Duchamp's own explication of 'The Bride Stripped Bare by Her Bachelors, Even (The Large Glass)'.
James Joyce (2 February 1882 – 13 January 1941)
Handwritten manuscript of Ulysses
Duchamp:
exact facsimile of the manual of instructions/working notebook* for Etant donnés: 1. La chute d’eau 2. Le gaz d’éclairage (Given: 1. The Waterfall 2. The Illuminating Gas)
*note: couldn't find a copy of the Etant Donnés instruction manual/notebook online. The Philadelphia Museum of Art sells the facsimile in the gift shop or at least used to.
Joyce:
exact facsimile of handwritten mauscript for Ulysses
Duchamp:
Tzanck Check, 1919 (financial readymade)
book based on a telegram from Duchamp (telegram owned by David Prowler)
Joyce:
returns check in the amount of $200, Joyce's cut of the sale, back to Ezra Pound (broker of the sale of the handwritten manuscript) claiming it was sold to Philip H. &. A.S.W. Rosenbach for too little. Location of returned check unknown.
